Background: Two leading musicology and ethnomusicology professors from The University of Texas at Austin discuss their latest publications.
Former Dean of the College of Fine Arts and former Director of the Eastman School of Music Robert S. Freeman has considered the predicament in The Crisis of Classical Music in America: Lessons from a Life in the Education of Musicians.
Robin Moore, professor in ethnomusicology has specialized in the music of Latin America and the Caribbean with an emphasis on Cuba. His new book co-written with Alejandro Madrid is titled Danzón: Circum-Caribbean Dialogues in Music and Dance, published by Oxford University Press.
