The Fine Arts Library (FAL), a unit of the The University of Texas
Libraries, opened July 16, 1979. The library contains the art and music collections and most of the theatre and dance materials. Its collections support research and instruction in the College of Fine Arts, which includes the School of Music, the Departments of Art and Art History, and Theatre and Dance. The Fine Arts Library collection includes approximately 300,000 books and scores, 900 current serial subscriptions, 36,000 compact discs, 4,400 video cassettes and videodiscs, 6,200 reels of microfilm, and 24,000 microfiche.

VISION
To be the best Fine Arts Library in North America by providing our
constituents with high quality collections in a variety of media
supported by the latest technology in a stylish facility with a level of
service that is second-to-none.

ADVANCEMENT at the FINE ARTS LIBRARY
The Fine Arts Library actively seeks private support to enhance and expand its already vast resources.
Our Friends of the Fine Arts Library program provides crucial funds to bolster our collections, public outreach and educational programs.  Please consider becoming a friend of the University’s most lively library and assist us in achieving our goal of becoming the best Fine Arts Library in the country.

ENDOWED SUPPORT for the FINE ARTS LIBRARY
The Richard T. and Jan J. Roberts Excellence Fund
Established in 2006, this fund will be used to enhance the University’s Fine Arts Library through purposes such as upgrading and maintaining the Fine Arts Library facility, acquiring new library materials, and providing financial support for readings or lectures by renowned playwrights, poets, artists, composers, authors and others.  In honor of this $1 million fund, the University renamed the reading room at the Fine Arts Library “The Richard T. and Jan J. Roberts Reading Room.”

The David O. Nilsson Endowment and Lecture Series for Excellence in Contemporary Drama
Established in 2005 to support the acquisition of works by the world's finest modern dramatists at The University of Texas's Fine Arts Library, the endowment also funds an annual lecture series to feature playwrights, scholars, critics and performers speaking to their work, influences and issues facing the world of contemporary drama.

LOCATION
The library is located on levels three through five of the Doty Fine Arts Building (DFA) at 23rd and Trinity Streets. The building is wheelchair accessible through the Trinity Street entrance and elevators serve the three levels within the library.
