There are almost twenty species of bluets in Texas, and they often have, as the name suggests, blue flowers--but not always. In this species, the small bluet, the flowers vary from blue-violet to lilac (rarely white). It is a small early spring bloomer that grows in open sandy areas in the eastern half of the state.
