The bush anisacanth occurs naturally in Texas only in the Big Bend country in dry stream beds and canyons, but it is a great xeroscape plant that is gaining in popularity. The unusual red flowers attract hummingbirds. It is a deciduous shrub that blooms mostly in the summer and fall.
