There are not many true woodland wildflowers in central Texas, and this is one of the prettiest. It grows from eastern central Texas to as far west as the easternmost canyons of the Edwards Plateau. The flowers vary in color from sky blue to lavender-purple, always with a pale center, and are produced in the spring.
