With its completely round leaves and its fruit looking something like a shower head (and the middle of the flower with a "mini-shower-head"), the water lotus is both strikingly beautiful and a bit odd. It is related to the sacred lotus of Asia. It inhabits muddy quiet ponds, mostly in eastern and northern Texas.
