Finding Conference Proceedings Conference proceedings owned by the UT Austin libraries can be located using UTNetCAT. Conference proceedings often have long titles, for example:
Titles such as this can be a little confusing to deal with. Should you look for this conference proceedings using "Structures under extreme loading conditions" as the title? What would you do if you knew you needed the proceedings from the 1999 ASME Pressure Vessels conference but didn't have any more information? We recommend using keyword searches when you are trying to find conference proceedings listed in UTNetCAT. A title keyword search for ASME Pressure Vessels limited to the year 1999 will find this proceedings as will a title keyword search for the terms structures, extreme, and loading. The Engineering Library subscribes to publications from all the major U.S. engineering societies and we should have their primary publications, including conference proceedings. If you can't find the proceedings you are looking for, please ask us. We spend a lot of time tracking down conference proceedings and we can help. We are also trying to purchase electronic access to engineering society publications as they become available online. Anyone interested in IEEE publications should note that conference proceedings, journal articles, and standards published by IEEE from 1988 to the present are available online to UT Austin users through the IEEE/IEE Electronic Library link on UT Library Online. Check with a librarian to see if the publications from the societies you are interested in are available online. Remember that UTNetCAT will not provide you with information about the conference papers included in these proceedings. You will need to use an index such as Compendex (Engineering Index) or INSPEC to find conference paper information and then go back to UTNetCAT to see if we have the proceedings in which the papers are published.
