- An ambitious plan for linked tunnels that will float across the 2,100 miles from Canada to Scotland, carrying magnetically levitated trains that run 300mph, reducing the trip across the Atlantic to under 7 hours. Before this comes to fruition, however, engineers have to figure out how to deal with ocean currents strong enough to bend the tunnels and strategize for possible mid-ocean derailments.
