Digital Imaging Project Cycle

Planning must consider the entire cycle of the digital imaging project:

  • Project Inception
  • Planning
  • Preparation for Digitization
  • Digitization
  • Preparation of Return of the Original Source Material to Storage
  • Preparation of the Digital Collection for Use

During the planning phase of the cycle preparation for the project must be considered from several different points of view. For example, in addition to staffing concerns it is important to explore technological considerations, intellectual management concerns, and physical artifact protection.
