Digital Assets Discussion Group: Standards And Guidelines

This section is a place to point to the relevant discussions and resources centering on digital collections. This area will also become a clearinghouse of published guidelines developed by the Digital Assets Discussion Group for the UT digital community.

As a result of rapidly developing technology, standards for digital reformatting exist in limited numbers. There are, however, many guidelines on best practices for particular areas of digital reformatting. Primary among the works that have influenced Digital Collection Services has been Moving Theory Into Practice by Anne R. Kenney and Oya Y. Reiger. An on-line tutorial based on this work is available through Cornell University. Guidelines for instigating and carrying out a digital reformatting project will be linked from this page and will cover:

Digital Imaging

Audio (being developed)

Web Video Guidelines by UT Austin Digital Video Producers
