The DADG-IP Group met with Emilie Algenio, Steve Black, Aaron Choate,
Alisha Little, Mark McFarland, Mary Sue Neilson, Rue Ramirez, and Elizabeth
Schaub in attendance. This being the first meeting, the group spent
a few minutes with introductions.
Mark McFarland started the meeting
with a request that the DADG-IP group look at the issue of branding
on Knowledge Gateway sites. The initial granting meeting the previous
week had unearthed some concerns from potential grantees about what
the branding issue means to individual site designs. The group will
discuss various scenarios and try to come up with suggestions as
to how to best implement the branding.
The group's first item of interest is the suggestion to the Knowledge
Gateway that an intellectual property directory be added to the KG
site. This will be used to house any IP-related documents pertaining
to the site. These will include a (currently draft) materials
usage statement that will
provide information on how KG materials can be used. Two forms related
to copyright will be also be added -- one for non-UT requestors for
use of KG materials and another for KG site creators to obtain clearance
for materials to be used on a KG site.
There was a first run through on fleshing out the required
fields for the forthcoming metadata registry that will
be used to house information about KG-related materials. More work
will be done on these.
Discussion will continue on the group's mailing list with another
meeting to be announced as needed.
