We invite you to help us build the University of Texas Library collection!
In the next year, the University of Texas Libraries will add more than 100,000 volumes to its collection, which will support the learning, research and knowledge of our 50,000 students and more than 3,000 faculty and researchers.
Your involvement will help improve the UT experience for our students; provide needed resources for our faculty; and impact research that will change the world.
It’s easy…by selecting one or more items from the list below and making a contribution that will purchase the item(s) of your choice. In recognition of your passion for providing resources for our students and faculty, we will list your name or name you designate (for honorees or memorials) in the online catalogue record for the item you purchased.
The wish list below includes items that have been identified by our librarians and faculty as important resources needed for instruction and research. This list is by no means everything that faculty have requested.
We hope that you take a few moments to review the list and find an item that excites you or one that you feel UT should have. The list can be sorted so that you can find something of interest conveniently.
Thank you for contributing to the future of our University!
If you have questions about a specific item or subject area, please call Gregory Perrin, assistant director for development at 512-495-4349 or email at perring@austin.utexas.edu.

The Right to Food and the TRI...
A concise analysis of the relationship between patent rights and human rights is given in this book, focusing on the right to food. The UN Sub-Commission on Human Rights identified ‘apparent conflicts’ or ‘actual or potential conflicts’ between human rights and intellectual property rights. The TRIPS Agreement under the WTO Agreement and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights constitute the central treaties in the analysis. Moreover, the book does not find that the two treaties actually conflict. There are, however, concerns regarding the national implementation of the treaties.
The book finds that the right to food and related human rights of the Covenant give important guidance when implementing intellectual property legislation and science policy in general. This title is needed by International Nutrition students and will serve programs in public policy.

Whole Person Healthcare, v.1-...This work presents a vision of health care for the future that honors the whole person--mind, body, and spirit. The three volumes present the expertise of over 80 contributors and editors. With healthcare services becoming more specialized, fractured, and costly, consumers are demanding more integrative, effective treatments that address the physical, spiritual, and psychological aspects of illness and health. This "whole person" approach to healthcare is increasingly being offered by healthcare professionals and in facilities nationwide. In this unique set of books, experts from across the country, at the forefront in their fields, explain how, how extensively, and why healthcare is changing to incorporate complementary practices, from yoga, meditation and QiGong, to art, music, and dance therapy. Breaking research on this growing field is featured, as are observations by healthcare professionals who say the new approaches are not only helping patients heal, but also helping professionals rediscover their ancient roles as healers of body, mind, and spirit. Examples of training templates, funded programs, and treatment protocols are included. Each of the focused, practical chapters offers a Tool Kit for Change, summarizing major treatment points from a particular perspective. Prevention and lifestyle are addressed, as are cures.
Although other works on holistic health are available, none provides the comprehensive scope of this set. Extensively researched and referenced, it includes helpful figures, tables, and graphs. Highly recommended by CHOICE.
Wiley Encyclopedia of Chemica...
This book reflects the multidimensional character of chemical biology, focusing on the fundamental science of biological structures and systems.
This is the first major reference at the interface of chemistry, biology, and medicine. Chemical biology is a rapidly developing field that uses the principles, tools, and language of chemistry to answer important questions in the life sciences. It has enabled researchers to gather critical information about the molecular biology of the cell and is the fundamental science of drug discovery, playing a key role in the development of novel agents for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Now students and researchers across the range of disciplines that use chemical biology techniques have a single resource that encapsulates what is known in the field. It is an excellent place to begin any chemical biology investigation.
