The Richard Gideon Pond Ornithology Collection Enhancement Endowment has been established by Beverly Pond to commemorate her husband Richard Pond's retirement.
This endowment will provide funds to enhance the collections of the Life Science Library pertaining to birds.
Pond began his career as a student assistant in 1974 at the Biology Library in Patterson Hall, and in 1978 was one of the staff who assisted in moving the collection to the Main Building where it was renamed Life Science Library. He received a Libraries Staff Honors Award in 1993 and a Library Excellence Award in 2004. Richard retired in January 2008 as LA II for Technical Services at Life Science.
