"The Rightness of Movement: Photographs of Deborah Hay by Phyllis Liedeker Finley" will be on display in the Fine Arts Library from March 26-April 8, and features 20 photographs taken of Hay in Austin over the course of fifteen years.
A native of Brooklyn, Deborah Hay made a splash in the world of postmodern dance in the 1960s as a member of the noted Judson Dance Theater. She later moved to Vermont to focus on choreography before making her way to Austin in 1974.
An opening reception for "The Rightness of Movement" will take place on Friday, March 26, from 5-6:30 pm at the Fine Arts Library. It is free and open to the public.
The event precedes an upcoming performance by Deborah Hay and the symposium “An Uncanny Beauty: A Celebration of Deborah Hay” sponsored by the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies on April 7-8, 2010.
