1. Franchimont studied with Kekulé in Bonn after earning his PhD in Leiden under Mesch. (cf Mainz)
2. Kekulé studied with both Liebig and Will.
3. Reinwardt was a botanist whose direct predecessors were physicians (Mainz). A different lineage traces him back to the Dutch physician Herman Boerhaave at Leiden (Chemistry Tree).
