Printing and Photocopying
Printing from Workstations
The Chemistry Library has a pay-printing workstation that allows you to send print jobs from any of the library's workstations. To use it, you must have a UT Libraries copy card (see below). You can't send print jobs to non-library networked printers from our workstations.
- Execute a PRINT command in the software you are currently using. You will be asked to name your job. The job will then travel to the Print Station, located in the first copier alcove.
- Insert your copy card into the reader attached to the Print Station.
- Select your job from the print queue. The station will audit your card to make sure you have enough money to print the pages. Cost is $0.13 per page.
- Unprinted jobs will remain on the server for two hours before being deleted.
Printing from Laptops
If you want to send a print job from your own laptop to a library pay-printer, first download a print client from the Libraries'
Computing page. Then your job will be sent to all pay printers in the Libraries, where it will remain for two hours or until you print it.
Photocopying
Public photocopiers are located in the alcove along the north wall. These machines accept only UT Libraries copy cards, and
do not accept bills, coins, or Bevo Bucks. The copy cost is $0.13 per page.
Library copy cards can be purchased in most library units, including Chemistry, from self-service vending machines in the copier areas. You can also add value to your card at the same machine. The card vending machines accept bills and credit cards.
Read all instructions carefully to avoid losing your money!
Departmental photocopiers are owned by the Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Students, faculty and researchers in authorized departments may request a card for these machines in the Chemistry Department's Mailroom or Procurement Office (WEL 2.204). Departmental copy cards can be obtained and re-valued in the Welch Hall Procurement Office. Be sure to write your name and phone number on the back of your card.
Questions about Copyright?
Faculty and staff are referred to the UT System Intellectual Property Policy for information on fair use, educational use, permissions, and a "crash course" on these issues. The Libraries also maintain a list of links on Protecting Intellectual Property.
Microforms
The Chemistry Library has reading machines for microfilm or microfiche, but no photocopying capability. Check out the envelope or reel at the circulation desk, and take it to another library to copy. You can print or scan microforms at the Engineering Library, Life Science Library, and PCL.
THE CHEMISTRY LIBRARY DOES NOT PROVIDE CHANGE OR REFUNDS.
If you lose money due to a card or copier malfunction, report it to the Copy Center in the Perry-Castañeda Library (First Floor). The Libraries are not responsible for lost or stolen copy cards.
