Description

Held in conjunction with Banned Books Week, TXBBQ&A will be an interactive roundtable discussion about the real, relevant state of censorship in Texas. Our conversation will center on Texas schools and values, books in prison, freedom of the press, and your right to read. Maley Thompson, of UT's English Department, will moderate the discussion between five expert panelists:

Donnis Baggett, The Texas Press Association
Acacia O'Connor, The National Coalition Against Censorship
Scott Medlock, The Texas Civil Rights Project
Lilia Rosas, Red Salmon Press & Resistencia Bookstore
Rocío Villalobos, MonkeyWrench Books & Rise Up/Levanta Texas

Audience members are invited to weigh in and crystalize their opinions about what is at stake in Texas censorship controversies. Please bring your burning questions and thoughtful perspectives to TXBBQ&A.

This event is sponsored by the University of Texas English Department and UT Libraries.
