From Net Art to Jewelry: On working with language
Friday, February 10, 2017 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
At the Fine Arts Library , DFA 3.200
Yael Kanarek, artist-in-resident at The Foundry, will present her varied media practice from net art to jewelry. She'll review twenty years of working with languages as narrative and singular concepts. The talk will begin with early net art works and include her ongoing project WORLD OF AWE. She’ll also discuss her recently launched commercial text jewelry brand KANAREK.
The University of Texas Libraries and the College of Fine Arts are proud to announce Yael Kanarek is the first artist-in-residence at The Foundry in the Fine Arts Library. February 6-10 Kanarek will be visiting with four classes, working in The Foundry, and giving a video-assisted presentation open to all about her work.
Funded by donor Kirby Attwell and the College, this new series of visiting artists brings to Austin for a week at a time notable multi-media artists for workshops with students, lectures for the public, and a chance to pursue their own art on the advanced equipment in The Foundry, including the laser cutter and 3D printers.
