FORT BEND COUNTY.
Arcola.—A well was bored here on the House plantation: Depth, 910 feet; flow (estimated), 500,000 gallons per diem.
The water is used in sugar making.
LEE COUNTY.
Giddings.—A well was bored at this place for Mr. F. Raube: Depth, 297 feet; flow, negative.
The water is soft and palatable, and rises 170 feet in the well, but no attempt has been made to determine the quantity that could be obtained by pumping. A bed of lignite six feet thick was penetrated at 80 feet, and at 120 feet another four feet thick.
BASTROP COUNTY.
Bastrop.—A well at this place is over 900 feet deep. I am informed that no water whatever was found.
HIDALGO COUNTY.
Well on Don Macedona Valeo's ranch: Depth, 1004 feet; size of pipe, 8-inch; flow, negative.
At 100 feet depth the water rose to within 15 feet of the surface. At 200 feet another water sand was pierced, the water rising to within 12 feet of the surface, but below that depth no more water sands were encountered. Sixty thousand gallons daily were pumped from this well.
ROBERTSON COUNTY.
This county has a number of flowing wells,,mostly of small diameter and intended for plantation supply.
Calvert.—The Galveston News of August 22, 1892, gave the following data of a well at this place: Depth, 587 feet; size of pipe, 4-inch; flow, 150,000 gallons per diem.
No information as to the quality of the water was given.
Another well at this place gives: Depth, 620 feet; size of pipe, 4-inch; flow, 150,000 gallons per diem.
The water is derived from a sand penetrated at a depth of 560 feet. Water of good quality.
Water, Ice and Electric Light Company's Well.—Depth, 288 feet; flow, 0.
Water rises to within thirty feet of the surface. One million gallons can be pumped in twenty-four hours.
