La Porte.—

  • No. 1: Depth, 440 feet; size of pipe, 3-inch; flow, 116,000 gallons per diem.
  • No. 2.—Depth, 454 feet; size of pipe, 3-inch; flow, 60,000 gallons per diem.

Well No. 1 is in the center of the town plat. No. 2 is on the shore of Galveston bay, about one mile from No. 1. The water is of good quality.

Humble.—Well at Bender & Co.'s saw mill: Depth, 600 feet; size of pipe, 3 ½; flow, 70,000 gallons per diem.

Water fresh; no salt.

Zimbi.—A well bored at this place was driven to a depth of 480 feet without finding water. The following is a record of the strata:

Soil and subsoil ......................................... 2 feet. 2 feet. Alternating red and yellow clays ........................ 60 feet. 62 feet. Sand ....... ........ .............................. 418 feet. 480 feet.

At this depth a bed of gravel was met, and the well abandoned. Another well in the same locality was bored to a depth of 520 feet without going through the gravel, and was abandoned. No water found at any depth in either of these wells.

LIBERTY COUNTY.

Keno.—A well at this place was driven to a depth of 700 feet. At 90 feet water was found that rose to within 50 feet of the surface, and about 30,000 gallons daily could be pumped at this depth. No more water sands were found below this, and the well was abandoned at 700 feet depth.

POLK COUNTY.

Valda.—Well at T. L. Hackney's saw mill: Depth, 420 feet; size of pipe, 4-inch; flow, 65,000 gallons per diem.
