LETTER OF TRANSMITTAL.
DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE, INSURANCE, STATISTICS, AND HISTORY.,
AUSTIN, TEXAS,, June 11, 1893.
Hon. J. S. Hogg, Governor of Texas:
DEAR SIR—I have the honor to submit herewith the Fourth Annual Report of the Geological and Mineralogical Survey of Texas. As to what this report contains, it is fully set forth in the letter of transmittal of State Geologist E. T. Dumble, to which attention is invited. Prof. Dumble has had charge of the Survey from its organization, and is entitled to great credit for the able and satisfactory manner in which he has handled the work. He has been a careful, zealous, and efficient officer. Great good has been accomplished by this Survey during the last four years, under its present able management, in the location of coal, lignite, ores, artesian waters, etc., which will prove to be of incalculable benefit to Texas in the near future. The way being pointed out to rich and paying investments, capital will not be slow in availing itself of the advantage which the opportunity affords, and we may early expect large investments looking to the development of the mineral resources of Texas.
I have the honor to remain, with much respect and esteem,
Your obedient servant,
JNO. E. HOLLINGSWORTH,
Commissioner.
