Texas Vegetation
ON the pages of this section the reader will find the following:
- 1. A map representing an attempt by the author to delineate his concept of the major vegetational regions of the state, eighteen in number.
- 2. A very brief summary account of the dominant features to be found in each region.
- 3. A list of genera of ferns and flowering plants (seed plants) to be found in the state, based on collections in the herbarium of the University of Texas, giving the regions in which each has been found. This list, necessarily incomplete, includes several genera not heretofore of published record for Texas.
- 4. Such illustrations as limitations will permit.
By these means it is hoped to convey to the mind of one not familiar with the various regions some idea of their vegetational physiognomy and principal constituents.
