Walter M. Strong (MA '57) changed jobs last summer and moved from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to New Orleans after attend ing a four-months company school in New York City. Walt is now an Account Execu tive with Bache & Company, Inc., in New Orleans.
Hal S. Stubblefield (BS '54) has been trans ferred to Houston from Bakersfield, Cali fornia, where he's been for the past three years. Hal is now Supervisor of Eastern U.S. Operations for Geophysical Service, Inc. He and Barbara have three children: Susan (8), Amy (6) and Stuart (1%).
Jerome F. Svajda (BS '40), is still doing gen eral dentistry in Richmond, Texas, and is still the father of eight! Jerome writes: "One unpardonable sin — oldest son is an Aggie. Recalling Arthur Deen's old saying, I'm learning more and more about less and less, so I am now a specialist in nothing!"
Leonard J. Svajda (BS '40) reports to us from Corpus Christi where he is a dentist. Leo nard worked as a Geologist for Gulf Oil Company until World War II and then practiced general dentistry in Houston for a year before moving to Corpus Christi. He has five adopted children, three boys and two girls. He says he would enjoy hearing from geology majors of the class of 1940. He has lots of geologists for patients, but none from the class of 1940.
W C Swadley (BA '52, MA '58), Geologist for the USGS in Erlanger, Kentucky, com pleted his tour as Map Editor for the Ken tuck Mapping Program in September and returned to field work — quadrangle map ping in the Ordovician of northern Ken tucky. The Swadleys moved into a new home in Florence, Kentucky, last December.
H. N. Sweeney (BA '52), Independent Geol gist in Roswell, New Mexico, is "still wild catting with occasional success." Hank has one son at Washington & Lee and another who graduated this year from the American Institute for Foreign Trade.
Abdullah H. Tariki (MA '47) heads his own consulting office in petroleum affairs in Beirut, Lebanon.
Dennis R. Taylor (MA '52) is now a Con sulting Petroleum Geologist in Dallas. Den nis reports "no additions to the family; consulting has developed me into a 24-hour, world-wide geologist in a hurry!"
Eugene Madison Taylor (BS '58) left the Navy in January 1967 and is now practicing medicine in Denton, Teras.
George Woods Taylor (BA '49), Senior Ge ologist (Evaluation-Tax) for Humble in Houston, has a new home and "new yard work — now called creating." George was
elected President of the Robert E. Lee High School Dads Club for 1967-68.
Dick Teel (BS '41), District Geologist for Pan American Petroleum Corporation, writes: "Will have two sons in Texas next year. Dick, Jr. will be a junior and Ricky will be a freshman. Pan Am transferred our dis trict office to Fort Worth, even though we still cover the same area. May and survived the move; we sold our Lubbock home and bought one in Fort Worth. Like Fort Worth very much!"
Clement B. (Tim) Thames, Jr. (BS '54, MA '57) continues as a Consulting Geologist in Bismarck, North Dakota. He writes: "Have managed to get married again and adding small et als to the tribe. Had more snow this April than all the rest of the winter put together. Shades of New Orleans! Best wishes to all."
Billy D. Thomas (BS '49) reports to us from Austin where he is Senior Staff Geologist for the Railroad Commission of Texas.
George L. Thomas (MA '60) is now a Me chanical Engineer for the San Francisco Bay Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California. He writes: "Three cold, snowy winters in Ohio is all we could take, so here we are in California. I'm working for the Navy on nuclear submarines and cruisers to naval guns, rocket launchers and optics. Selab 111 is here, but haven't found a way to 'get involved' with it yet. Eloise, Kelly, John and Kristen (in order of acquisition) are fine."
Jamie Edward Thomerson (BS '57) is "still teaching and doing research on fish syste matics" at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where he is Assistant Profes sor of Zoology. The Thomersons have a sec ond child, Rachel Marie, born April 3, 1967.
George M. Thompson (BS '58), Petroleum Geologist for Herbert E. Williams in Hous ton, is "continuing exploration of the Texas Gulf Coast, Mississippi and Louisiana."
Roy W. Thompson (BA '38) continues as Senior Computer for Independent Explora tion Company of Texas in Midland.
Tommie J. Thompson (BS '57) is "still work ing the Oklahoma and Arkoma Area for Shamrock Oil & Gas Company" out of Amarillo. Tommie reports that hydorcar bons are getting harder to find.
Jimmie Harold Thomson (BS '58) is Geolo gist and Manager of Production for the Ewing Operating Account in Breckenridge, Texas.
Wesley A. Tiller, Jr. (BS '50) is now Assist ant Regional Geologist for Sun Oil Com pany in Beaumont.
Bert C. Timm (MA '41) has been transferred from Houston to Tulsa by Sunray DX Oil Company and appointed Manager of Ex tractive Planning and Economics. Bert says he hated to leave the "Great State" again for life among the Indians and that his new job "requires you to be independently wealthy and have the ability to walk on water."
William E. Tipton (BS '49, MA '51) contin use as an Independent Geologist in Hous ton. Bill writes: "Still enjoying the search for oil berries, with the help of my wonder ful 'helpmate," and fourteen-year-old son, who is best described as a hunk of hair with a shirtail, and an eleven-year-old daughter who is training all of her sixty pounds to go in the right places with a new girdle, a one-eyed dog, seventy-five guppies (at last count), and two female Siamese cats who seem to be 'that way' ALL the time!"
William L. Tipton (BA '48) shares his time between Houston, where he is a Consulting Geologist, and with his wife, Bonnie Mac (BA '55), and three step-children, Dougie, Sarah and Danny Nelson, at The Sherry House in New York City.
Thomas W. Todd (MA '56, PhD '59), As sistant Professor of Geology at the Univer sity of California at Davis, writes: "A very busy year with two major papers published and my SCUBA-facilitated research pro gram finally producing useful data. The summer marine field course enrolled 25 stu dents during its first session last year (most ly out-of-staters ) and is being expanded this summer to include a separate graduate course; and two other new regular-session courses, one a computer-aided experimental and a Geology 1 course."
Elsworth Tonn (BS '55) is Vice-President of Stonehenge Oil Company in Tulsa, Okla homa.
Donald Torgerson (BS '52) is still in Willis ton, North Dakota, where he is Manager for the Dowell Division of Dow Chemical Company. His oldest son, Scott, is attend ing Laurence University in Appleton, Wis consin, and son Stuart enrolls there this fall.
Richard F. K. Tothill, Jr. (BA '55), Ge ologist for Continental Oil Company, moved from Australia to Turkey in August 1966, leaving there after six months to go to Doha, Qatar, Arabian Gulf, where he's now "hunting for oil." He hopes to return to the U.S. early in 1968.
John M. Townley (BS '54), Management Specialist with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Las Vegas, Nevada, has re ceived a University Fellowship from the University of Nevada and is taking a year's leave of absence to complete his Ph.D.
