Conditions Governing Quotation or Publication of Archive Materials:
The Archive is responsible for safeguarding and preserving
collections for both their physical and intellectual posterity.
In order to insure this, as well as provide a balance between the needs
of scholars and the rights of the copyright holder, all requests for publication
will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Publication can take place only under the provisions of the fair-use
doctrine in the United States Copyright Law (as amended) or by obtaining
permission of the copyright holder, which in some instances may be the Alexander
Architectural Archive and The University of Texas at Austin.
It is the responsibility of the Requestor to secure this permission.
- NOTICE: WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United
States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photo-copies or
other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are
authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction
is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or
research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or
reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be
liable for copyright infringement. This

judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

INFRINGEMENT OR ANY OTHER LEGAL OR REGULATORY CAUSE OF ACTION ARISING FROM THE
USE OF ALEXANDER ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVE MATERIALS.
