The Teaching & Learning Services internship program provides graduate students with hands-on experience teaching information literacy skills in an academic library (Perry-Castañeda Library). Interns will be mentored by library staff to plan, teach and assess library instruction sessions for undergraduates enrolled in core curriculum Signature Courses. As time permits, interns will also participate in other information literacy projects such as creating assignments and online tutorials. Interns will also serve regular reference shifts (virtual and in-person).

Interns will be appointed on a semester basis and may apply to renew the internship for up to two years. The position is currently funded through Spring 2018. Preference is given to candidates who will be enrolled for three or more semesters. 
POSITION AVAILABLE: January 16, 2018. Position is subject to renewal each semester. 
WORK SCHEDULE: Work schedule is variable and may include some evenings and weekends for a total of 20 hours per week. 
DUTIES:   Teaching library instruction sessions to undergraduates. Writing instructional content, which includes tailored research guides, assignments and exercises, and online tutorials. Assessing instruction. Collaborating with faculty to plan and assess instruction. Providing research consultations to undergraduates who attended instruction sessions. Participating in outreach efforts during orientation and to FIG groups. Providing reference assistance in person and through email/IM reference services. Participating in ongoing professional development meetings with instruction librarians.

REQUIRED: UT-Austin School of Information graduate student enrolled for 9 semester hours during the Spring and Fall semesters, and at least 3 semester hours during the Summer session. Student must be in good academic standing. Must have an interest in teaching.

PREFERRED:  Demonstrated effective verbal, written and presentation skills. Experience teaching research skills to undergraduates. Awareness of current issues in information literacy instruction. Strong commitment to undergraduate learning. Strong service orientation. Interest in academic librarianship. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular indoor work environment.
SALARY: $1,063 per month. In-state tuition. Some benefits apply. Possible tuition benefits.
