Position Available:  January 16, 2018. Position is subject to renewal each semester.

Work schedule:  Monday through Friday, between 9am and 5pm, as arranged with supervisor for a total of 20 hours per week.

Duties: Under the supervision of the Head of Special Collections and the Latin American Archivist, the GRA will assist with the digitization of and metadata creation for the Genaro Garcia Collection in accordance with best archival practices and procedures. Primary responsibility will be to collect metadata.

Required:  Graduate student in the School of Information, History, or Latin American Studies. Must be able to read Spanish. Student must be in good academic standing. 

Preferred:  Experience working with archival or other historical collections. Familiarity or proficiency in Nahuatl. Expertise in colonial Mexican history. Knowledge of bibliographic reference tools.  Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative working both alone and in a dynamic team environment.  Coursework in archival theory of practice and experience with EAD or XML is preferred. Experience collecting metadata using Dublin Core or MODS fields.

Working Conditions:  Regular indoor work environment.

Salary:  $1,063 per month. In-state tuition. Some benefits apply. TRB is not available for this position.
