Approval and Selection Plans
United States/United Kingdom: A joint Anglo-American approval plan with Blackwell's Book Services which supplies current titles from university presses, trade publishers, professional associations and societies, and small presses according to detailed subject profiles. Texas University Presses: Approval plans for all titles published and/or distributed by Texas A&M University Press, Texas Western Press, and the University of Texas Press. For more information, contact Merry Burlingham, Chief Bibliographer.
France: An author-based approval plan with Aux Amateurs de Livres supports teaching and research in the Department of French and Italian. A selection plan with Jean Touzot covers current imprints in all other subjects, as requested by individual bibliographers. Germany: An approval plan with Harrassowitz focuses on German language, linguistics, literature, and culture. Current titles at the selective or representative levels are acquired for the fine arts, classics, philosophy, and several international studies programs. Italy: An author-based approval plan with Casalini Libri supports teaching and research in the Department of French and Italian. A selection plan, also with Casalini, covers current imprints in all other subjects, as requested by individual bibliographers. Latin America: A number of blanket order, approval, and selection plans are maintained to provide current imprints in all languages from the countries of Central and South America. For more information, contact Don Gibbs, Latin American Studies Bibliographer.
Portugal: A selection plan with Iberbook is managed by Hugo Chapa-Guzman, Spanish/Portuguese Bibliographer. In general, the plan focuses on titles related to teaching and research in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, including Latin America.
Russia: An approval plan with Russian Press Service provides current Russian titles to support teaching and research primarily in the College of Liberal Arts. For more information, contact Don Arthur, Slavic and East European Studies Bibliographer.
Spain: A selection plan with Puvill Libros provides current titles from Spain to support teaching and research throughout the College of Liberal Arts, including Latin American Studies, and more limited coverage for the Fine Arts. Art and Architecture: Two approval plans with Worldwide provide art exhibition catalogs and current imprints on Architecture. Music Scores: A plan with Harrassowitz to provide selected scores is managed by David Hunter, Music Librarian.
Juvenile Literature: A Yankee Book Peddler plan to provide prize-winning titles for various age groups is managed by Lindsey Schell, Children's Literature Bibliographer (Acting).
Firm Order Vendors
Most orders are supplied through the vendor who was awarded the state book contract, Baker and Taylor, however orders may be directed toward other publishers as deemed necessary.
EBSCO : Subscription agent who provides quite a few of the University of Texas Libraries journals.
