University of Texas Libraries Policies and Guidelines #26
Duplicate Periodical Backfiles Policy

The University of Texas Libraries will normally bind or otherwise retain only one backfile of a periodical. Exceptions will be based on: used demand and convenience, available space, and cost. The location of the retained copy will be determined by the bibliographers involved.

Requests to duplicate a backfile will be referred to the Associate Director of Research Services, who will seek the advice of the Collection Development Committee. Requests to duplicate a backfile in microform will be given preference over requests to duplicate in hardcopy.

Recommended by Collection Development Committee, March 15, 1979. Reviewed by Department Heads, March 21, 1979, Administrative Group, April 24, 1979. Approved by Director Harold Billings, May 2, 1979.
