Ruth Stephan Poetry Collection

The Ruth Stephan Poetry Collection, containing over 5,000 books of poetry, is now available for use on the sixth level of the Perry-Castañeda Library. The Stephan Collection, given to the Humanities Research Center over 30 years ago, was conceived
The donor, Ruth Stephan, wished for the collection "to be made available to anyone . . . whether students or faculty or the interested public." For several decades the Stephan Poetry Collection was located in the Flawn Academic Center as a part of the Undergraduate Library.

The Stephan Collection contains poetry from all ages in both Western and non-Western languages. The emphasis is on twentieth-century poetry written in English. Works within the collection include private and small press editions, some signed, and specially illustrated editions. The collection is shelved as a discrete separate, easy-to-locate collection and is available for LIBRARY USE ONLY. This use policy follows the guidelines stipulated by the donor.
