PMA Library opens Co-op-funded study space
AUSTIN, Texas (October 6, 2005) - The John M. Kuehne Physics Mathematics Astronomy Library (PMA) at The University of Texas at Austin has a new study space funded by the University Co-op.
A $130,000 gift from the Co-op to the College of Natural Sciences with additional support from the College made it possible to transform a previously unused second-floor balcony into a study space that increases available seating at the PMA by about 50 percent.
The 35-seat study space features wireless Internet access, eight computers and modular whiteboard panels for group study.
"The addition of this space is a significant benefit to the PMA Library," says librarian Molly White. "The space has unofficially been in use for several weeks and is quickly becoming popular with the students. We're extremely grateful to the Co-op for their support."
The John M. Kuehne Physics Mathematics Astronomy Library (PMA) is a branch of the University of Texas Libraries. PMA serves the physics, mathematics and astronomy information needs of the university community, as well as the research information needs of the Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy departments.
