Celebrating the Life

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Libraries have announced the winner of the 2012 Signature Course Information Literacy Award. Jessica Wan collected the honor for her research inquiry assignment “Salt Merchant Culture in Qing Dynasty Yangzhou” completed for the Fall 2011 Signature Course The Good, Bad, and the Ugly in Chinese Literature taught by Chiu-Mi Lai of the Department of Asian Studies.
The University of Texas Libraries current resource search tool, CrossSearch, will be replaced by a new and improved search service on May 22, 2012. A seamless transition will provide users with a new tool that conducts a simple search to a single unified index to provide instant access to content in the Libraries collections.
The ILS web pages will be unavailable from 7 AM, Wednesday, May 30, to 7 AM, Thursday, May 31, for server maintenance. Normal access to request forms, electronic document retrieval, request history, renewals, etc. will be unavailable during this time period.
The Architecture & Planning Library at The University of Texas at Austin has received a generous bequest from its most devoted patron. The estate of D. Blakely “Blake” Alexander—a retired university architecture professor who passed away in December—has established an endowment to benefit the archive that bears his name.
