AUSTIN, Texas — President-Elect of the American Library Association (ALA) Camila Alire will present a talk at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 in the Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room at the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection. This event is free and open to the public.
In honor of the Feb. 21 birthday of former U.S. Rep. Barbara Jordan, the University of Texas Libraries has announced an upcoming program of events to recognize her achievements. The Libraries' Barbara Jordan celebration will begin on March 27 with the opening of an exhibit of materials related to Jordan's career co-hosted by the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History and conclude with the scheduled unveiling of the Texas political icon's statue on the campus on April 24.
AUSTIN, Texas–A bevy of area children's authors will present readings at the Perry-Castañeda Library (PCL) on The University of Texas at Austin campus on March 7. The event, entitled "Books for Kids," is an extension of Explore UT-"The Biggest Open House in Texas"- and is being hosted by the University of Texas Libraries.
