Architectural resources and services

The Architecture and Planning Library, with its extensive collection of current and rare publications plus its collection within a collection--the Alexander Architectural Archive--is now one of the major architectural information centers in the nation. The library has achieved this prominence through a combination of well-planned and very generous circumstances. The School of Architecture has worked closely with librarians over the past decade to develop the collection and cultivate support from faculty, alumni, and professional groups, all of whom have given generously of their talents, their creations, and their funds. The School has also been instrumental in acquiring foundation funding to assist in the support of the library's collections and services. Statewide architectural and planning groups, students, scholars, and architectural firms have joined in as well to lend their support--a support that has served to benefit the architectural community at The University of Texas and, in turn, to benefit practicing architects, city planners, preservationists, property owners, and architectural historians throughout the state. Located in historic Battle Hall adjacent to the UT Tower and near the center of The University's original "40 Acres" campus, the Architecture and Planning Library includes a vast reading room.
