AUSTIN, TX (November 17, 2003) — The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation of New York has given $25,000 to The University to establish The Lucius N. Littauer Judaica Book Fund within the General Libraries.
The availability of materials purchased with the support of The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation Judaica Book Fund will have an immediate effect on the quality and scope of the General Libraries collections supporting Jewish and Hebrew studies. These resources will be used by University of Texas students and researchers and, through interlibrary and electronic document delivery, by researchers and the general public across the State of Texas, the nation, and worldwide.
In addition, materials purchased with the support of The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation Judaica Book Fund will assist in expanding the capabilities of reference specialists in the General Libraries at the University of Texas at Austin to respond to the complex and increasingly numerous questions relating to Jewish history, language, and culture received onsite, by telephone, and by e-mail from local, national, and international researchers.
