Heath was dean of libraries at Texas A&M from 1993 - 2003 and director of libraries at Texas Christian University from 1987-1993. More information about Dr. Heath.

During the summer the library moved to a new method of providing proxy access to library databases and e-journals. The library proxy system insures that you are properly routed and authorized via your UT EID to licensed Web resources. The new EZ Proxy system is widely used in university libraries throughout the world, and should provide improved access to online library resources. More information on the new proxy server.
The library provides a schedule of drop-in classes about library resources and services, tours and open houses. The Faculty Refreshers program offers classes such as setting up electronic reserves, locating funding, and using EndNote for citation management. Fridays @ 2:00 offers classes in using business databases. More information on library instruction.
Electronic reserves provides online access to library materials placed on reserve by instructors for students enrolled in their courses. The library provides both classes and personal assistance for faculty working with e-reserves. More information on electronic reserves.
State budget cutbacks resulted in the discontinuation of a number of state-wide databases funded through the TexShare program. Information on both new and discontinued databases, as well as recommendations on alternatives to the discontinued databases can be found on the database news page.
There have been a few minor changes to library hours this fall.
Eight online multimedia tutorials on topics such as E-Reserves, EndNote, using UTNetCAT, fundamental library research skills, Perry-Castañeda Library, and other topics may be found at the online tutorial site.
Sign up to receive automatic e-mail alerts as information on your topics is published in any of tens of thousands of journals or periodicals.
Reference librarians will be available online to take real-time questions via chat services on weekday afternoons beginning in September. Librarians with wireless laptops will also be available Tuesdays from noon to 4:00 in the Texas Union Lobby beginning September 9th. More information on these new experimental programs will be found beginning in September from the "Ask a Librarian" link soon to be found on the library services page.
