BACKGROUND: The popular Excessive Noise Concert Series returns to the stage with a special concert by by an ensemble originating from the Butler School of Music.
Hear No Evil — a mixed new music ensemble comprising recent alumni and current graduate students — will perform music by current BSOM student Kay He, John Adams, Gareth Farr, Michael Gordon, and Svante Henryson.
The group recently performed at the New Media Art & Sound Summit at the Salvage Vanguard Theater, the Golden Hornet Student Composers’ Concert at the North Door, and premiered seven works by student composers from The University of Texas Austin in Bates Recital Hall.
Excessive Noise is an occasional concert series hosted by the Fine Arts Library. Curated by Russell Podgorsek — an alumnus of the Butler School — the series provides students with an opportunity to perform chamber and solo works beyond those required by their degree programs, and for the premier of original works beyond the classroom. While generally in the classical vein, Excessive Noise features work from a variety of traditions and perspectives.
The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance.
