Upgrade Your SciFinder Scholar by March 31

CAS will discontinue access to SciFinder Scholar on March 31 for all obsolete versions of the client software. This includes versions 2002, 2002.1, and 2004 and all Macintosh OS9 versions. Users should upgrade as soon as possible to avoid being cut off.

ScienceDirect Organic Chemistry Backfile Purchased

The online pre-1995 backfiles of 14 organic chemistry journals published by Elsevier/Pergamon, including Tetrahedron and Tetrahedron Letters, have been purchased by UT System libraries and are now available to users back to their first volumes. Titles include:

Journals Now Online

We have recently established electronic access to the following print journals:
See the Find a Journal page for links to the online content of these and thousands of other titles. The Libraries are actively converting print journals to electronic access whenever this is possible, practical, and affordable.

In case you haven't heard, CAS released a Macintosh version for OS X last November. (It's best if you are running Tiger, OS 10.4.)

FEATURED BOOKS...

Encyclopedia of chemical processing.
TP 9 E648 2006 Reference
5-volume set billed as a "re-conceptualization" of the McKetta's classic 69-volume reference set. Articles on processing technologies and materials are arranged alphabetically, with an index in vol.5.

Science of Synthesis.
Reference Stacks
This important but often overlooked reference tool is the new edition of Houben-Weyl's Methoden der organischen Chemie. It began publication in 2000 and is about halfway through its projected 48-volume plan. It is intended to provide practical solutions and an alternate route through the mass of information available in the primary literature. For more information on its content and arrangement, go to Science-of-Synthesis.com. We hope to add the online version of SoS in the future.
