The Fine Arts Library presents the first in a series of free concerts at 8 pm on Friday, February 10 in the Fine Arts Library (DFA 3.200). 
AUSTIN, Texas — The Mallet Chemistry Library at the University of Texas at Austin has reached a milestone with the addition of the 100,000th volume to its physical collections.  The book, Advanced membrane science and technology for sustainable energy and environmental applications (Woodhead Publishing, 2011), was purchased with funds from the James E. and Ruth Ann Boggs Chemistry Library Endowment. 
Finding items in the Libraries just got a little easier.  On January 4, 2012, the University of Texas Libraries added two new features to the Library Catalog . Texting -- Look for “Send via Text Message” on the right side in each Library Catalog record.  Click on it to text the title, author, call number, location and status directly from the Library Catalog to your phone. 
    UPDATED: January 5, 2012  Due to technical issues, CrossSearch will not be replaced by a new version on January 9.   Another service alert will be posted if the technical issues are resolved before the start of classes. December 16, 2011 - 1:36pm On January 9, 2012, the current version of CrossSearch will be replaced by a new version, CrossSearch Plus. 
  AUSTIN, Texas —The University of Texas at Austin will launch a digital archive that consists of some 12 million pages of records from the Guatemalan Historical National Police Archive (known as Archivo Histórico de la Policía Nacional or AHPN), making online resources publicly accessible to researchers, human rights activists, prosecutors and ordinary citizens.

AUSTIN, Texas — As students face the end-of-semester crunch of deadlines for assignments, research papers and presentations, seven University of Texas Libraries locations will sponsor “Crunch Time 2011,” promoting services including on-site assistance, subject librarian consultations and the UT Libraries Ask a Librarian IM and email services.

Event: Science Study Break features anthropologist Claud Bramblett discussing filmic portrayals of apes. The event is free and open to the public. When: Tuesday, October 11, 6 p.m. Where: The University of Texas at Austin, Welch Hall, Room 1.308.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Life Science Library’s Science Study Break program will wrap up its season on Wednesday with an examination of James Cameron’s most recent blockbuster “Avatar.” Dr. Misha Matz of the Department of Biology will analyze biological fact and fiction in the fantastic world of the film. The program will be at 6 p.m. in Garrison Hall, Room 0.102. It is free and open to the public.
The Fine Arts Library at The University of Texas at Austin has partnered with the Harry Ransom Center to host an exhibition of materials related to the college career of American playwright Tennessee Williams. "Tennessee Williams, the College Years" is a limited collection of materials from the writer's time in the academy that serves as a companion to the Ransom Center's extensive exhibition on his broader life and career "Becoming Tennessee Williams," both of which are on display through July 31.
The Benson Latin American Collection presents the ninth annual ¡A Viva Voz!, "Machetes, Mariachis and Spy Kids: Elizabeth Avellán Makes Movies" in which film producer Elizabeth Avellán will discuss her life as one of the few Latina film producers who has been able to succeed in the male-dominated film business. The event takes place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Human Rights Documentation Initiative (HRDI) and the Benson Latin American Collection are collaborating with the Brazil Center at the Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies(LLILAS) and Kinobras to bring a Brazil and human rights film series to The University of Texas at Austin. The Brazilian Film Series on Human Rights will feature seven critically acclaimed films with central human rights themes to be presented March 21-31 in locations across campus.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Fine Arts Library at The University of Texas at Austin is sponsoring a unique exhibition of ceramic pottery. The Artstream Ceramic Library, featuring the work of thirteen nationally recognized potters, is being hosted by the Fine Arts Library through Thursday, March 31.
The University of Texas Libraries have partnered with the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin to host an exhibition honoring the life and work of iconic human rights activist Helen Suzman, the South African leader who devoted her life to the fight against apartheid. The panel exhibit, “Helen Suzman: Fighter for Human Rights,” will be displayed in the University Federal Credit Union Student Learning Commons at the Perry-Castañeda Library through March 27.
